Invited competition for a new headquarters building for Velux in Denmark and White Design were the only UK Practice asked to submit. The project had a high sustainability agenda and structure was driven by the environmental regime. The main office floor plates are exposed sculptured concrete which provides thermal mass and air is drawn across the floor plates and out through the concrete stacks. On the top floor the office floor plate was designed to support a lightweight steel mezzanine. The roof is a series of curving glulam arches in which the Velux roofing products can be displayed.
